Police car lights

A burglar had little to show for his effort early Thursday morning after smashing a glass front door at a Downtown restaurant, making off with a small amount of cash.

The burglary was reported at about 6 a.m. and happened sometime after 2:30 a.m. at Plaka Taverna, 410 E. Wilson St., Madison police said.

"An employee arrived to find the smashed glass door," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "It appeared an intruder got into a cash drawer, where little money had been kept."

No description of a suspect was given.
