A Madison man who refused to put out his cigarette in a Downtown bar was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly creating a disturbance and fighting with an officer.
Brian Smith, 64, was tentatively charged with disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing, Madison police said.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. at the Irish Pub, 317 State Street.
"A bartender said the suspect became enraged when asked to put out the cigarette, yelling and holding up his middle finger to the employee and other patrons," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
An officer used pepper spray on Smith to bring him under control.
