A man accused of violently attacking a woman in December on Madison's Southwest Side has been arrested in Missouri.

Dalwayne Howard, 25, was taken into custody by U.S. marshals, Madison police said.

Howard allegedly bound, strangled, beat a woman with a wooden rod and burned her with cigarettes in an apartment in the 1200 block of McKenna Boulevard on Dec. 13.

He had been arrested at a Madison hotel a week earlier on domestic abuse charges involving a different person, but was released from jail a few days later.

Police found a loaded handgun, heroin, cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the hotel room.
