A truck containing stolen credit cards, ID cards, backpacks and car keys crashed into an apartment building Saturday afternoon, with the driver fleeing the scene.

Nobody was hurt in the crash into the building, or in two other crashes the truck driver was involved in, Madison police said.

The crash was reported at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday in the West Washington Avenue and West Doty Street area.

Police weren't chasing the truck but officers had been tracking it through a victim's iPhone, stolen from the Great Dane Pub and Brewing Co., 123 E. Doty St., earlier in the afternoon.

The suspect used the victim's credit cards to run up hundreds of dollars in charges at area businesses.

The truck driver hit a vehicle near Washington, then crossed a lawn and hit the apartment building, before colliding with a car in the 500 block of West Doty Street.

The driver fled, but police know who he is.

"Police are looking for a 51-year-old man, no permanent address, who possesses a long criminal history, including theft and credit card fraud," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
