Two teens were injured Tuesday night on a Southeast Side street in an assault by other young men with whom they had been having a dispute.
The incident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of Camden Road, Madison police said.
A caller to 911 first thought shots had been fired, but arriving officers discovered that was not what happened.
"They found two Madison teens (15 and 19) had been battered by other young men, some of whom have an ongoing dispute with the victims," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
The attackers used baseball bats and a pipe on the victims, who also were kicked and punched.
The victims, who suffered minor injuries, weren't the only targets.
"Their car had its windows broken out by a baseball bat," DeSpain said.
No description of suspects was given.
