A woman walking from her car to a West Side store was mugged Friday morning, with the suspect getting away with her purse.

The woman was not injured.

The robbery happened at about 8:50 a.m. in the Target parking lot, 201 Junction Road, Madison police said.

The 40-year-old victim said a young man approached her and ripped the backpack-style purse from her shoulder.

"He jumped into a minivan and drove off," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "The van was checked and was listed as stolen from the town of Madison."

The suspect is a black male in his teens to early 20s, thin to average build, wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt.
