A woman who stabbed her boyfriend during a domestic fight in Madison on Sunday gave aid to the man before paramedics arrived, help which possibly saved his life.
The fight happened at about 4:20 p.m. at a home on Churchill Drive, Madison police said.
The unidentified woman was being battered in the fight by her 39-year-old boyfriend, until she was able to stab him in the torso.
"Investigating officers determined it was an act of self defense," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. "She provided potentially life-saving aid to the man prior to the arrival of paramedics."
The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital for surgery.
"When he's released from the hospital he will be arrested for domestic disorderly conduct," DeSpain said.
