A one-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured five others shut down one side of Interstate 39 in Waushara County for several hours Saturday morning.
The crash happened about 6:15 a.m. in the town of Coloma, the Waushara County Sheriff’s Department said.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
Several callers reported the crash, which occurred when an SUV rolled over in the median about a mile south of Highway 21, throwing all six occupants from the vehicle.
One person was dead at the scene. Three were taken by medical helicopters and two others were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. Their names were not available Saturday afternoon.
All southbound lanes of traffic were closed until about 10:30 a.m., when one lane was opened. Both lanes were opened at about 12:30 p.m. Traffic was detoured around the crash area.
