Details about President Barack Obama's visit to the Madison area next Wednesday to talk about education are still unclear. But later that night he's scheduled to be back in Washington, where the volume will be turned up for music.
According to an administration press release issued Wednesday, the president is scheduled to make remarks in the East Room of the White House during a Nov. 4 evening concert there by four classical music superstars: violinist Joshua Bell, guitarist Sharon Isbin, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, and pianist Awadagin Pratt.
The concert follows an afternoon of arts- and music-related activities hosted by Michelle Obama, honorary chair of the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. The first lady will speak about the importance of after-school and out-of-school arts and humanities education and award the presidential committee's Coming Up Taller prize to 15 U.S. and four international programs that promote the arts for underserved children and youth.
The White House announced Tuesday that the president will be in the Madison area Nov. 4 to "discuss strengthening America's education system." Information about the time, location or focus of Obama's visit has not been released.
