Campuses in the University of Wisconsin System have been awarded roughly $83 million in federal stimulus funds for 263 projects, according to figures released by the UW System today.
UW System had spent about $5 million by Sept. 30, resulting in the creation or retention of 137 university jobs.
UW-Madison received the bulk of the money, roughly $75.5 million for 223 projects. UW-Milwaukee has gotten 14 projects funded worth $4.4 million.
UW System faculty and staff have submitted more than 800 grant applications totaling more than $486 million for funding.
A report released on Tuesday said that the state of Wisconsin has been able to retain or create 8,284 jobs with $680 million in federal stimulus funds. Those figures did not include the UW System.
