Add Washington Monthly magazine as another publication singing the praises of UW-Madison.

The publication has UW-Madison ranked 28th in the country in its 11th annual College Guide and Rankings, according to a news release from UW-Madison on Monday.

Last year, UW-Madison was ranked 19th by Washington Monthly. The methodology used to rank schools changed this year, the news release said.

Stanford was ranked No. 1, followed by Harvard, MIT, UC-San Diego, Penn, Texas A&M, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, Georgetown and UC-Davis.

Michigan was the highest ranked Big Ten Conference school at 21, with UW-Madison at 28, Illinois at 33, Michigan State at 38, Purdue at 45, Minnesota at 53, Maryland at 56, Rutgers at 61, Ohio State at 69, Indiana at 77, Northwestern at 99, Iowa at 121, Nebraska at 134 and Penn State at 168.
