Voter turnout Tuesday was not surprising to staff in the offices of various city and county clerks around the state.
Sherry Grant, the village clerk in Shorewood, said at 7 p.m. that turnout was around 63 percent, higher than the 55.5 percent turnout in the April election.
"It's rather quiet in spite of the number of people that have been coming through," Grant said.
Voting was also steady in Portage, where 46 percent of registered voters cast ballots as of 6 p.m., according to city clerk Marie Moe. Final turnout in De Pere was just below that at 44 percent, said city clerk Charlene Peterson.
Fond du Lac city clerk Sue Strands said voter turnout there was tracking just like a gubernatorial election, which had a 65 percent turnout in November. According to Fond du Lac county clerk Lisa Freiberg, final voter turnout was 63 percent.
