Madison police won't know until after Nov. 24 how much Wednesday's visit by President Barack Obama cost them.
Police spokesman Joel DeSpain said the department has to wait until its current pay period ends to determine overtime costs.
About 150 city police and 100 other local law enforcement officers helped with security for Obama's visit to Wright Middle School to talk about education reform.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office and State Patrol also had not yet determined their costs.
Metro Transit operated just over 22 hours of extra service, at a cost of about $1,109, to shuttle VIPs to and from the school at the request of the Secret Service and White House advance team, said spokesman Mick Rusch.
The city Streets Division made a visible but not costly contribution of 11 garbage trucks used to create a security wall at the school.
Wisconsin Department of Administration spokeswoman Carla Vigue said state costs were limited to providing two Capitol police officers to help with traffic control, with no overtime.
A White House spokeswoman said the administration normally doesn't discuss costs for presidential visits.
