Westfest and Back2School Bash
The Madison Parks Division and the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County are partnering to bring the second annual Westfest to Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Blvd., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Food and beverages will be sold at the event, which will feature a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a dunk tank, a craft market and networking opportunities. The Boys & Girls Club will be handing out 2,500 backpacks stuffed with school supplies.
Join local chefs including Patrick DePula, Dan Bonanno and Joe Gaglio at Breese Stevens Field from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday for Curdfest. The chefs will create their own curds which will be available for purchase along with fresh and fried curds from other Wisconsin vendors.
Vilas Park public meeting
The Madison Parks Division will ask for public input on replacing the pedestrian bridges at Vilas Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Edgewood College, East Regina Hall, Room 008, 1000 Edgewood College Drive. The Parks Division says the two pedestrian bridges over the park’s lagoon are “nearing the end of their service life” and that both bridges will be replaced in 2018.
Parkinson Optimism Walk
The American Parkinson Disease Association will walk through Warner Park, 1625 Northport Drive, at 11 a.m. Sunday to raise awareness and funds for outreach services and research.
Dane Dances! Charanga Agoza, V05 and DJ Pain 1 will perform at Dane Dances! from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Monona Terrace. The free summer music series was created to help break down racial barriers and bring people of all backgrounds together for a night of entertainment and dancing. Gates open at 4 p.m. Capacity is limited.
