Free MSCR classes
From drawing to ballroom dancing, Madison School and Community Recreation will offer a spate of free classes between Jan. 3 and Jan. 12. Classes will take place at: Memorial High School, 201 S. Gammon Road; MSCR Odana, 5625 Odana Road; MSCR Hoyt, 3802 Regent St., and MSCR East, 4620 Cottage Grove Road. A total of 58 classes will be offered. Yoga for the family
Yoga instructor Katie Muschlewski will lead a yoga class for all ages from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the Goodman South Madison Library, 2222 S. Park St. No experience is needed. Celebrate African-American culture and heritage with Madison poet Fabu. Explore the concepts of Kwanzaa through the arts and other activities from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at the Goodman South Madison Library, 2222 S. Chef Lily Kilfoy will host six cooking classes for families and children as young as 5 years old on Friday and Saturday at the Southwest Side Madison Meadowridge Library, 5726 Raymond Road. Each class will cover a different topic. Topics will include healthy comfort foods, lunches for kids, snow-day foods and the delicious foods of France. Registration is required for some of the free classes. All classes will be nut-free and some will be vegetarian.
