I hate to be critical of military spending in a time of war, but $3.2 billion for 6,200 trucks (that's $516,000 per truck) seems like a lot of money, and no one says boo about it.
People take to the streets about deficit spending in the federal budget. Where do they think the military budget resides? We hear about how the stimulus is a waste of money and hasn't done anything, but don't consider this contract that saved jobs as part of it.
What else could $3.2 billion buy? Or is there a less expensive alternative to these trucks?
Of course, think of the good for the economy. As long as the war continues and these trucks keep getting blown up, Oshkosh Corp. will continue to have work.
