The writer of Thursday's letter to the editor "Young people need to learn about faith" in support of the Diocesan stance on gay funerals, which referred to the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, may want to read the Bible more carefully if she is going to reference it.
Biblical scholars are of the opinion that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was not homosexuality, as the writer infers, but of a lack of hospitality. It is a good lesson for the hierarchy of our diocese who tend to shut people out, but not for the reasons that the letter stated.
Hospitality lacks in our diocese as much as in Sodom, as the most recent "considerations" once again show. All are not welcome in our churches.
