President Donald Trump recently boasted that he has accomplished more in the first 10 months of his presidency than any other president. Trump's boast is an exaggeration unless he measures accomplishments by the number of groups he's offended.
President Trump started slowly last year with attacks on Mexicans and Muslims during his campaign. But in the second half of this year he has redoubled efforts to expand his list of offended groups. His growing list has expanded to include:
- African-Americans, through his response to the white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Women who have been victims of sexual abuse, by supporting U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore of Alabama, and now by denying Trump's crude statements to "Access Hollywood."
- Native Americans, through his comments at a ceremony honoring "code talkers."
- Muslims again, by retweeting Muslim hate videos.
White House staff and Trump defenders insist this behavior is "just Trump being Trump." That's like saying it's "just Harvey Weinstein being Harvey." It's unacceptable and time for the GOP leadership to stand up to this morally bankrupt president before he completely bankrupts our American values.
