Tony Evers’ first campaign ad for governor shows just how naïve (or slick) he is when it comes to criticizing the nearly $3 billion tax incentive package for Foxconn.
When he says, “Just think if we invested that money in our schools instead,” does he think the $3 billion is real money? The incentive package represents taxes the state would never receive in the first place. Without this incentive, Foxconn wouldn’t dream of coming to Wisconsin. So with or without Foxconn, the $3 billion would never be collected.
By granting Foxconn this “exemption” they create 13,000 jobs and thousands more because of the economic ripple effect. And this is a bad deal? School Superintendent Evers needs a remedial course in general math.
