A couple of recent letters to the editor in the State Journal seem to think Jesus Christ taught that homosexuality is a sin.
In claiming that the Roman Catholic doctrine condemning homosexuality has its origin in the teaching of Jesus, these writers reveal their ignorance of Scripture.
Actually, nowhere in any of the four canonical Gospels does Jesus say anything at all about homosexuality, though he must have been aware of the homosexual encounters common throughout the Roman empire -- more specifically, presumably, in the Roman baths in Sephoris, not far from Nazareth.
Apparently, homosexuality was just not important to Jesus.
Perhaps Roman Catholic Christians should follow suit.
