Six University of Wisconsin head coaches had their contracts extended Friday by the school's Athletic Board.
The five-year contracts for men's basketball coach Greg Gard, women's basketball coach Jonathan Tsipis, men's hockey coach Tony Granato and women's hockey coach Mark Johnson were extended through the 2021-22 season.
Wrestling coach Barry Davis and men's and women's swimming and diving coach Whitney Hite had the end dates of their three-year contracts pushed to the 2019-20 season.
The board approved the moves in closed session during its meeting on Friday.
In its first full season under Gard, the men's basketball team finished 27-10 and in second place in the Big Ten Conference.
Gard, a longtime assistant, replaced Bo Ryan on an interim basis in December 2015. He was named the full-time coach in March 2016.
The women's basketball team was 9-22 in its first season under Tsipis, who was hired in March 2016.
Granato was the Big Ten men's hockey coach of the year in his first season after the Badgers finished second in the league and improved by 12 victories over 2015-16.
The women's hockey team was national runner-up after winning the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's regular-season and playoff championships. Johnson won more than 30 games for the second straight season and for the seventh time in the last 10 seasons he has led the Badgers.
Davis, who has been head coach of the wrestling program since 1994, guided the Badgers to 13th place at the NCAA Championships in March.
Hite has directed the swimming and diving teams to six top-15 finishes in six seasons as head coach and last month was named to lead the United States team at the 2017 World University Games.
