The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team added a big man to its 2018 recruiting class.

Joe Hedstrom, a 6-foot-10 center from Minnesota, orally committed to the Badgers on Wednesday night.

Hedstrom received a 4-for-5 offer from UW, meaning he’ll be a walk-on his first season before going on scholarship starting with the 2019-20 season.

Hedstrom, who passed up a scholarship offer from Utah, averaged 8.5 points as a junior last season at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka. He joins Tyler Herro, a highly regarded guard from Whitnall, in UW’s 2018 class.
