The University of Wisconsin football team announced the signings of five additional players to its class of 2016.
Hawaii transfer cornerback Nick Nelson and Pittsburgh running back transfer Chris James will both join the Badgers on scholarship, but will sit out the 2016 season. Each will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Nelson made 89 tackles and had 21 passes defended at Hawaii over the past two seasons. James ran for 690 yards and four touchdowns in two seasons for Pittsburgh.
UW also announced the addition of three walk-ons to the team.
Gabe Lloyd, a tight end from Northeastern Wisconsin Lutheran in Green Bay, had previously committed to North Dakota State before switching to a walk-on for the Badgers.
Adam Krumholz, a wide receiver from Stoughton, and Garrett Groshek, a quarterback from Amherst, will also join the Badgers as walk-ons. Groshek was a high school teammate of Badgers defensive lineman signee Tyler Biadasz.
