State Journal photographer M.P. King shows Wisconsin cornerback Nick Nelson in action
Good sports photographs come in many forms. Some are exciting, simple and a quick read. Others are complex, demanding your attention and extended study.
When I'm selecting photographs for publication, I certainly look for moments of peak action or reaction, but I'm also looking for layers of information and interactions between people that tell a more complete story.
The photos of Nick Nelson's explosive 20-yard punt return in the second quarter of a game against Iowa really drives home the effort that Iowa put forth trying to stop him, as well as Nelson's determination to succeed.
