EAST LANSING, Mich. — After having a three-goal lead cut to one, the No. 7 University of Wisconsin men's hockey team got goals by Tarek Baker, Cameron Hughes and Wyatt Kalynuk to close out a 6-3 victory over Michigan State on Friday.
No. 3: Spartans freshman Mitchell Lewandowski scored twice and added an assist.
No. 2: Ryan Wagner had his third multiple-point outing in his last six games, scoring and adding an assist for the Badgers.
No. 1: With the Badgers reeling, Tarek Baker scored a goal to provide a 4-2 lead. He also had an assist on Matthew Freytag's game-opening goal.
The Badgers and the Spartans finish the series at 6 p.m. Saturday.
However Friday's game at Michigan State (6 p.m., no TV, BTN Plus pay stream, 1070 AM) turns out, the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team will have a new longest streak.
A victory by the No. 7 Badgers would be their fourth straight at Michigan State, their longest. UW has won three in a row in East Lansing three times in a 45-game all-time series, including the team's current run.
A Michigan State victory or tie would be the Badgers' fourth straight game without a win, the longest stretch in the 48-game Tony Granato head coaching era. (Yes, this weekend's games count toward Granato's record even though he's away from the team.) UW is 0-2-1 in its last three games.
