Warhawks update: Whitewater opened the season with a 51-3 win over The College of New Jersey. The Warhawks, who led 41-3 at the half, finished with a 481-186 advantage in total offense. Sophomore running back Drew Patterson rushed for 89 yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns. Sun Prairie native Ryan Curran came in at quarterback in the second half and completed 8 of 9 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. After the victory, Whitewater moved up one spot in the D3football.com poll, receiving four No. 1 votes. Mount Union (Ohio) remained No. 1.

Blazers update: Belhaven, located in Jackson, Mississippi, won its opener on the at Millsaps (Miss.) 28-25. Senior receiver LaMiquell Roberts caught 14 passes for 220 yards, both single-game Belhaven records. Freshman quarterback Hunter McEachern completed 30 of 55 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns. Whitewater set Belhaven 66-3 last year.

St. Francis, Ill. (0-1) at No. 10 UW-Platteville (1-0)

Pioneers update: Senior Tom Kelly completed 30 of 44 passes for 331 yards and five touchdowns in Platteville's 35-0 win at George Fox (Ore.) last week. Senior receiver Quinn Buschbacher caught 13 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Freshman Connor Foley was named the WIAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week after averaging 44.7 yards on six punts. The Pioneers moved up two spots in the D3football.com poll with the victory.

Fighting Saints update: St. Francis, located in Joliet, Illinois, lost at St. Xavier University of Chicago 42-35 last week. The Fighting Saints trailed by 14 in the fourth quarter before junior quarterback Don Butkus completed two of his four touchdowns passes to tie the game at 35. Butkus completed 16 of 33 passes for 323 yards and carried the ball six times for 50 yards. Junior Adam Morrison caught four passes for 111 yards and two scores.
