Chris Nelson scored on a 6-yard run in overtime as the host and second-ranked UW-Whitewater rallied to defeat UW-River Falls 27-20 on Saturday to clinch a share of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football title and an NCAA Division III playoffs berth.

The Warhawks trailed 20-10 midway through the third quarter when Colin Buck forced a fumble on a River Falls punt return and Jordan Strasburg recovered at the Falcons’ 16.

Nelson scored from a yard out to pull the Warhawks within three and Will Meyer kicked a 33-yard field early in the fourth quarter to tie it at 20. After Nelson’s OT score, Matt Seitz recovered Sawyer Moon’s fumble at the 5-yard line to end it.
