SATURDAY’S GAMES

Lakeland College (1-1) at No. 13 UW-Platteville (2-0), 6 p.m.

Notes: Saturday’s game marks the Pioneers’ first night game in Platteville since 2012. In 2014, a tornado brought down three of the stadium’s four lighting fixtures. Coach Mike Emendorfer’s team has shown late-game mettle in pulling out its first two victories, as freshman quarterback Cade Earl went 6-for-6 on the final drive in a 30-28 win over George Fox on Sept. 2, and Monona Grove product Tyler Blang stepped in for an injured Earl last week and threw a 32-yard TD pass to Zach Rappel in a 38-27 win at Hampden-Sydney (Virginia).

Lakeland is the two-time defending champion of the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference and is favored again this year. Quarterback Michael Whitley, the two-time NACC Offensive Player of the Year, threw for 473 yards and four TDs in a 43-29 win over Carroll on Sept. 2, and completed 48 of 58 passes for 377 yards in a 37-35 loss at Olivet last week. Lakeland's head coach is Colin Bruton, a former defensive assistant under Emendorfer.

Carroll University (1-1) at HM UW-La Crosse (2-0), 3 p.m.

Notes: Quarterback Tarek Yaeggi (Watertown) completed 22 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-14 victory over Ripon College last week, and Nick Holcomb caught a school-record 10 passes for 263 yards and all four scores. The effort ranked fourth on the WIAC’s all-time list for catches and tied for second for receiving touchdowns. … The Pioneers used a late fourth-quarter drive, sparked by junior quarterback Colton Behling, to beat Augustana College, 28-25. Behling threw for 261 yards in the game, including a 43-yard pass to senior receiver Brandon Ehrke of Deerfield to set up the winning score.

UW-Eau Claire (1-1) at HM George Fox, Oregon (1-1), 3:30 p.m.

Notes: The Blugolds evened their record with a 34-20 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College, keyed by a 213-yard rushing attack led by quarterback J.T. DenHartog, who ran for 91 yards and three TDs. George Fox beat 21st-ranked Redlands last week, 13-10, holding the Bulldogs to 201 total yards. The Bruins’ Grant Schroeder passed for 180 yards and ran for 32 more in the win.

Adrian, Michigan (1-1) at UW-Stevens Point (2-0), 4 p.m.

Notes: The Pointers erupted for 19 points in the fourth quarter to rally past Albion, 33-19, before taking last Saturday off. Senior Jerry Williams (Watertown) had 113 receiving yards with two touchdowns, and senior Ryan Swigart completed 23 of 31 passes for 326 yards and three scores. Adrian rolled past Rockford College last week, 62-7, racking up 763 yards of total offense and 644 yards on the ground. Junior running back Emmanuel Stewart ran for 185 yards on 11 carries and scored twice, all in the first half.
