Madison golfers Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly are among the first group of players to commit to playing in this year’s American Family Insurance Championship, to be played June 22-24 at University Ridge Golf Course.
Stricker, the tournament host, leads this year’s Charles Schwab Cup standings after winning his first two Tour Champions titles at the Cologuard Classic and the Rapiscan Systems Classic.
Kelly ranks second in the Schwab Cup race with a win at the season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship and a runner-up finish to Stricker in the Cologuard Classic.
The next two players in the Schwab Cup standings, David Toms and Joe Durant, also committed to the event, which is in its third year.
Bernhard Langer, a two-time Masters champion and four-time winner of the Schwab Cup, also will return to the AmFam tournament after missing last year’s event because of a family commitment.
The final field will be set on June 15.
Tickets are on sale at AmFamChampionship.com/tickets, with a $5 discount on $25 general admission and $20 AARP Champions tickets available before June 18.
