Icy weather earlier in the week forced the Mount Horeb and Beaver Dam boys basketball teams to play a Friday afternoon matinee, and the host Vikings pulled out a 46-34 victory to close the regular season.

The Badger North Conference teams also played games on Thursday night, making Friday’s game the second each had played in an 18-hour span.

Junior Jason Larson scored 15 points to lead the host Vikings (17-5, 10-4 Badger North), ranked 10th in Division 2 by The Associated Press, past the Golden Beavers (14-8, 7-7).

Junior Max Klawitter scored eight points for Beaver Dam. Junior Gunnar Nortman scored eight points for Mount Horeb.

Columbus 47, Poynette 44

Junior Trent Casper scored 25 points to lead the visiting Cardinals (10-12, 3-7 Capitol North) past the Pumas (6-16, 0-10). Senior Gavin Klosky had 11 points for Poynette.

Portage 60, Nekoosa 46

Eli Considine scored 18 points to lead the host Warriors (8-14) over the Papermakers (0-22) in a non-conference game.

Portage took a 38-21 halftime lead and got double-figure point totals from Craig Steele and Erik Isakson.

Milw. Academy of Science 65, Edgerton 58

Sophomore Kaleim Taylor had 25 points to lift the visiting Novas (14-8) over the Crimson Tide (17-5). Senior Jacob Fox had 19 points for Edgerton.

Cambria-Friesland 80, Madison Abundant Life 32

Freshman Cade Burmania scored 20 points to lead the host Hilltoppers (6-15) over the Challengers (0-22). Sophomores Ryan Rockwell and Seth Byington each had nine points for Abundant Life.
