Janesville Parker junior Julia Hartwig announced via Twitter that she has orally committed to play women’s college basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Hartwig was a first-team all-conference selection in the Big Eight Conference last season and was a second-team choice on the Wisconsin State Journal/WisconsinPrepZone.com Large School all-Area girls basketball team. She was an honorable-mention pick on the Associated Press all-state team.

Hartwig, a post player, averaged 19 points, 13.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game in 2016-17. She had double-doubles in 23 games played.

She finished the regular season with the most total points, rebounds and blocked shots in the Big Eight, said Jennah Hartwig, Parker’s coach and Julia’s mother.

“Julia had another very impressive season, putting up big numbers and offering great consistency this season,” Jennah Hartwig said after last season.

So far this season, Julia Hartwig is averaging 16.5 points in four games, with a high of 21 points against Madison La Follette.

She tweeted: “I am excited to announce that I have committed to further my educational and athletic career at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Thank you to everyone who has helped me achieve this and supported me along the way! Go Phoenix.”
