Despite earning its biggest victory of the season to date last Friday, the Lodi football team relinquished its No. 1 spot in the medium schools division of The Associated Press’ state high school football poll.

The Blue Devils (5-0) rolled to a 55-24 victory over sixth-ranked Lake Mills last week, knocking the L-Cats to the No. 10 ranking. Still, Green Bay Notre Dame passed the Blue Devils to overtake the No. 1 spot, thanks to a 38-22 victory over Manitowoc.

Mount Horeb/Barneveld moved up one spot to No. 8 among the medium schools after a 45-0 victory at Baraboo. Clinton earned honorable mention.

In the large schools division, all of the top 10 teams won and held their positions, led by Kimberly as a unanimous No. 1. Waunakee held the No. 3 spot after a 64-7 victory over Portage. Sun Prairie remained in the No. 4 spot after a 41-6 win at Beloit Memorial, and Monona Grove held firm at No. 9 after winning at Fort Atkinson, 46-7. All three ranked area teams are 5-0.

Fond du Lac St. Mary Springs was a unanimous No. 1 pick among the state’s small schools, with Bangor holding firm at No. 3, Black Hawk remaining at No. 4 and Fall River remaining in a tie for No. 10.
