Senior Jack Zander completed 12 of 23 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns Friday night to lead the unbeaten Sun Prairie football team to a 38-14 victory over Wales Kettle Moraine in a WIAA Division 1 second-round playoff game.
Zander threw two touchdown passes to Caden White and added a rushing score in the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals a 38-0 advantage.
Draven Peeples rushed for 122 yards and scored on an 8-yard run to put Sun Prairie (11-0) ahead 17-0 early in the third quarter.
Shortly after, White returned an interception 24 yards for a TD.
For Kettle Moraine (7-4), Max Herro had a 4-yard rushing score and threw a late touchdown pass to Ray Kiffin-Bruce. Senior Mike Timm ran for 165 yards.
Waunakee 28, Slinger 7
After a slow start, senior Javian Dayne rushed for two scores and Nate Carter threw for another in the second half as the host Warriors (11-0) beat the Owls (7-4).
Dayne had a 46-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter as Waunakee took a 7-0 lead into halftime.
Senior Riley Zuhde caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Carter, increasing the Warriors’ lead to 21-0. Slinger scored its only touchdown on a 46-yard run by Tyler Evans late in the third quarter.
Dayne finished with 214 rushing yards and added a fourth-quarter touchdown. He now has 1,721 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns.
Waukesha West 35, Stoughton 0
Peter MacCudden rushed for 202 yards and a third-quarter score as the host Wolverines (11-0) beat the Vikings (9-2).
Sam Mikulak ran for a 13-yard touchdown on Waukesha West’s opening possession, and Tyler Zirpoli added a pair of rushing scores for the hosts.
The Wolverines held Stoughton to 58 yards of total offense and four first downs.
Brady Schipper had 32 rushing yards on 19 carries for the Vikings.
Lake Mills 30, Racine St. Catherine’s 13
Ben Dunkleberger had three first-half touchdown runs as the L-Cats (10-1) took a 16-point halftime lead and held on to stop the previously unbeaten and host Angels (10-1).
Dunkleberger finished with 16 carries for 80 yards and three scores, threw for 121 yards and a touchdown and hauled in an interception.
Hayden Iverson added to his state record with his 27th touchdown catch of the season, a 22-yard reception from Dunkleberger in the fourth quarter.
Isaiah Dodd had 28 carries for 174 yards and gave the Angels an early lead with a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Lodi 47, Platteville 21
Senior Jacob Heyroth rushed for 334 yards and five scores to lead the host Blue Devils (11-0) over the Hillmen (9-2).
Heyroth rushed for scores of 69, 52, 5, 2 and 45 yards. Lodi took a 28-7 lead in the first quarter.
Platteville closed the gap on a 45-yard Ethan Bernhardt touchdown pass to Donovan Blevins to make it 28-14 Lodi at half.
Lodi’s Cameron McDonald finished with 98 passing yards and a TD pass to Ben Rashid.
Mineral Point 14, Cuba City 7
Riley Workman recovered a blocked field goal attempt and returned it 75 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 1:16 left in the fourth quarter to send the visiting Pointers (9-2) past the Cubans (7-4).
Workman had 25 carries for 146 yards and a game-tying, 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth.
Cuba City took the lead on Ryan Hoppenjan’s 7-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Mason Reuter ran for 108 yards on 30 attempts for Cuba City.
