Milton took over the top spot in this week’s Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin state rankings.

The Red Hawks were ranked third in the preseason rankings.

After Milton won the Madison Edgewood/WPGA Invitational at Yahara Hills Golf Course, Red Hawks coach Kirk Wieland said: “I don’t get into the rankings at all. But it lets us know who the top teams are to beat. … We know who we are and if we play well we can be extremely competitive with the rest of the teams in the state. If we play like the ladies can play, we can be near the top.”

Middleton moved to fourth after being ranked seventh in the preseason poll.

Hartland Arrowhead dropped from first to second.
