Senior Jack Bates scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute, earning the forward a hat trick and giving the Verona boys soccer team the lead for good in a 4-2 victory over visiting Stoughton on Monday.

Bates also tallied a goal in the first half on an assist from Bryan Lopez-Martinez to give the host Wildcats (7-2-0) a 1-0 halftime lead.

The Vikings (3-5-0) tied the game, 2-2, on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute. Verona’s Jonathan Gomez scored an insurance goal in the 89th minute on an assist from Tavion McNuckle.

Jackson Werwinski scored on an assist from Andy Mendez-Maya late in the second half to lift the visiting Spartans (2-3-1) past the Purgolders (5-2-0).

Kevin Garcia and Johannes Haakenson each had a goal and an assist in the second half as the visiting Blue Devils (7-0-1) toppled the Goslings (4-3-1) to remain undefeated.

Mia Seeman shot a 1-under-par 35 to lift the host Red Hawks over the Goslings at Oak Ridge Golf Course. Taylor Hakala shot a 40 and Claudia Seeman 41 for Milton.

Grace Welch and Grace Jaeger each shot 42 as the Crusaders defeated the Blackhawks at Yahara East Golf Course. Kaitlyn Schneider also shot 42 to lead Fort Atkinson.
