Jack Macdonald scored twice as the Baraboo/Portage boys hockey team skated to a 6-2 victory over Sparta in a WIAA regional semifinal Tuesday night at Pierce Park in Baraboo.

The host Thunderbirds (8-16-0) raced to a 4-0 lead over the Spartans (6-11-1) in the first period of the Onalaska sectional game. Mike Wech added a goal and two assists.

Evan Goethel, Brenton Gundersen and Cameron Logan also scored for the victors as part of the Onalaska sectional.

Sauk Prairie co-op 8, Viroqua co-op 0

Riley Jelinek netted a hat trick as the host Eagles (15-4-1) beat the Blackhawks (2-15-3) in the Onalaska sectional.

Sauk Prairie scored five goals in the opening period, including four in a span of six minutes.

Camden Desroches added a score and two assists, and Dane Leonard had two goals and one assist. Dylan Andrews and Lance Baurenhuber each had a goal and an assist for Sauk Prairie.

DeForest 5, Tomah 4 (OT)

The Norskies (5-19-0) outlasted off the Timberwolves (5-18-2) to advance to a Thursday regional final in the Onalaska sectional.

Monona Grove 4, McFarland 3

Tanner Smith and Garrett Vinge each scored a goal as the visiting Silver Eagles (7-17-1) defeated the Spartans (12-11-2) in the Madison sectional.

Brett Zapp and Matthew Priebusch also scored goals for Monona Grove.

Stoughton 3, Monroe co-op 2

Nolan Stapelfeldt scored the first two goals to help host Vikings (10-13-1) defeat the Avalanche (4-19-2) in the Brookfield sectional.

Cade Janacke scored a goal and had an assist for Monroe.

Whitefish Bay co-op 7, Milton/Fort Atkinson 2

The WNS Storm (10-10-0) eliminated the Red Hawks (3-17-2) in the Brookfield sectional.

West Bend West co-op 2, Beaver Dam co-op 1

Ian Devenport scored the winning goal on a power play with just under five minutes left in the third period to lift the host Ice Bears (17-7-0) over the Golden Beavers (10-13-1) in the Fond du Lac sectional.

Kenny Likins also scored a goal for West Bend West.

Beaver Dam’s Jay Kirschbaum tied the game at the 12-minute mark of the second period.
