The host Reedsburg co-op (8-4-1) took a 5-4 overtime victory over DeForest (2-7-0) on Saturday in the third-place game of the eight-team, three-day Monk's Cheeseburger Classic at Poppy Waterman Ice Arena in Lake Delton.
The Cheavers boosted their unbeaten streak to seven games, blemished only by a 5-5 tie with Wisconsin Rapids in a Monk's semifinal on Friday.
McFarland 6, Greendale co-op 2
The Spartans (6-7) took control with three goals in the second period and coasted past the Ice Force (4-7-1) in the fifth-place game of the Monk's Cheeseburger Classic.
Grant Newcomer scored the first two goals of McFarland's second-period flurry and completed the hat trick in the third period. He also had an assist.
Austin Hoel made 21 saves in goal for McFarland.
Tomah 5, Stoughton 1
Jagger Hammer scored a goal and assisted on two others in the first period, putting the Timberwolves in control against the Vikings in the Monk's seventh-place game.
Stoughton (2-9) had 24 shots on goal, with 23 turned back by Paul Vender. James Hanson scored a shorthanded goal for the Vikings early in the third period. Carter Hellenbrand made 44 saves for Stoughton.
Chequamegon co-op 4, Monroe 3 (OT)
Toivo Kivimaa scored with 26 seconds left in the first overtime to give Team Seal (5-4-0) a narrow non-conference victory over the Cheesemakers (2-9).
Monroe's Seth Lindsay tied the score with less than seven minutes left in regulation, his second goal of the day. Hayden Roth scored Monroe's first goal, and Heath Bear made 33 saves.
For Chequamegon, Seth Gehrke scored two goals and added two assists.
Sun Prairie co-op 3, Osseo/Park Center (Minn.) 2
The Cap City Cougars (9-3-1) got two goals from Margo Thousand, but the game-winner was scored by Amanda Bauer in the fifth-place game of the eight-team Schwan Cup Open American Division at Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.
Thousand and Zephryn Jager assisted on the third goal, which came on a power play at 14:14 of the second period.
Taylor Thornton saved 20 shots for the Cougars. Laura Denchfield scored both goals for the Stars.
Viroqua co-op 2, Stoughton co-op 1
Emma Kolden scored with eight seconds left in regulation as the Blackhawks (7-4-0) beat the Icebergs (3-9-0) in the Rhinelander Holiday Tournament. Shannon King scored Stoughton’s lone goal.
