Drake Baldwin netted a hat trick Wednesday night as the Madison West boys hockey team opened the three-day Culver’s Cup tournament with a 4-1 victory over Ashland at Madison Ice Arena.
Scott Gregor scored a goal for the Oredockers (5-3-0).
Baldwin’s first-period goal was a shorthanded tally for the Regents (6-3-1).

Parker Lindauer, Brandon Schaefer and Ryan Buckalew scored goals as the Spartans (5-5-1) defeated the Blackhawks (6-3-1) in a Culver’s Cup quarterfinal. Patrick Cieslak scored for Baldwin-Woodville. Wes Turner recorded 28 saves for Memorial.

Joe Zemanovic scored three goals as the visiting Thunderbirds (6-5-0) beat the Silver Eagles (2-5-0) in a Culver’s Cup quarterfinal.
Tanner Smith netted a hat trick for Monona Grove.
Albert Lea (Minn.) 6, Verona 4
Alex Ulve scored two second-period goals as the Tigers (5-2-0) defeated the Wildcats (7-3-2) in the Kiwanis Cambria Hockey Festival at Graham Arena in Rochester, Minnesota.
Albert Lea recorded the first six goals, including five in the second period. Jake Osiecki had a third-period goal and an assist for Verona.
Wausau West 4, Madison Edgewood 2
Cade Lemmer, Frank Dovorany, Max Zingler and Sam Sippel each scored goals as the Warriors (7-3-0) beat the Crusaders (8-1-1) in the Showdown at Titletown Tournament at Cornerstone Ice Center in Green Bay.
Payton Smith and Carter Hottmann scored goals for Edgewood.

The Glacier (4-7-0) scored the game’s final three goals to pull away from the Metro Lynx (3-8-0). Ally Conybear scored two first-period goals and Carly Baltes added a second-period goal for the Metro Lynx.

Hattie Verstegen scored a goal and had an assist for the Warbirds (8-1) in the victory over the Cardinals (1-8-1) in the Eau Claire Holiday Tournament in Altoona.
The Warbirds later dropped a 2-1 decision to the Beloit Memorial co-op. The Rock County Fury (11-1-2) also earned a 6-2 victory over the Appleton East co-op (4-5-0).
