After scoring a hat trick with three goals in the first period Friday night, Madison West’s Drake Baldwin did the only sensible thing:

He went for another.

Baldwin wound up with a total of six goals to lead the Regents to a 7-2 victory over visiting Oregon in a non-conference boys hockey game at Madison Ice Arena.

Joe Clark also scored a goal for Madison West (11-4-2).

Zak Roskos and Tristan Hughes scored goals for Oregon (13-4-0).

Sun Prairie 2, Schofield D.C. Everest 2

Benett Halbleib scored a shorthanded goal 4 minutes, 48 seconds into the third period, and Owen Leatherberry delivered 40 saves as the Cardinals (13-2-1) and Evergreens (11-4-2) played to a draw at Heck Fieldhouse in Schofield.

C.J. Harkins also scored for Sun Prairie, with Halbleib delivering an assist.

Waunakee 4, Baraboo co-op 1

Mason Ihrke scored two goals to lead the Warriors (8-8-1, 4-1-1) over the visiting Thunderbirds (7-10-0, 3-3-0).

Dane Luebke scored a goal and tallied an assist for Waunakee.

Gabe Larson scored Baraboo’s lone goal.

McFarland 7, Monroe co-op 3

Grant Newcommer netted a hat trick and Connor Wilson scored two goals as the host Spartans (9-8-1, 4-4-1) defeated the Cheesemakers (3-13-0, 1-7-0).

Luke Kuberski, Colton O’Connor and Ryan Molitor scored goals for Monroe.

Girls hockey

Sun Prairie co-op 6, Onalaska co-op 1

Margo Thousand and Zephryn Jager each scored scored two goals as the visiting Cougars (11-5-1) defeated the Hilltoppers (7-10-1).

Jaidyn Groshek scored Onalaska’s lone goal.

Chippewa Falls/Menomonie 8, Mauston co-op 0

The Badger Lightning managed 20 shots on goal, but couldn’t push any past Caroline O’Dell in a non-conference loss at Reedsburg Area Community Arena. Natalie Buss had 31 saves for the Mauston co-op


Sun Prairie 41, Janesville Craig 29

The Cardinals won eight matches to beat the Cougars and clinch their fifth consecutive Big Eight Conference dual-meet title and ninth in the last 10 years. Craig is in second place in the dual-meet standings.

Sun Prairie earned pins from Karson Sutton at 152 pounds, Drew Scharenbrock at 160, Jack Haraldson at 170 and Alex Haug at 195. Craig got pins from Joey Coulter at 106, Joey Bellomo at 126 and Keeanu Benton at 285.

Stoughton 63, Fort Atkinson 9

With help from five Blackhawks forfeits and three pins, the Vikings remained unbeaten in Badger South duals. Pins went to Hunter Lewis at 126, Brooks Empey at 195 and Gavin Miller at 220. Fort Atkinson’s Nico Roscioli scored a pin at 145.

Beaver Dam/Wayland 37, Baraboo 36

The Golden Beavers clinched a Badger North Conference dual meet victory when Dylan Surprise earned a pin at 132 pounds. Matt Piekarski also scored a pin for Beaver Dam at 285. Baraboo had five pin victories.

Sauk Prairie 56, DeForest 16

The Eagles cruised to a Badger North victory, improving to 6-0 in the league, getting pins from Dawson Enge and Gavin Lankey.

Madison La Follette 42, Verona 36

Kyle Smith scored a pin victory at 126 pounds to lock in the Lancers’ Big Eight Conference victory over the Wildcats.

Madison East 48, Madison Memorial 24

The visiting Purgolders won behind pins from Dakari Clay at 138, Tavion Russell at 160, Armon Myadze at 170 and Henry Lemkuil at 182. Memorial pins came from Kaden Reetz at 145 and C.J. Green at 195.

Middleton 60, Beloit Memorial 12

The Cardinals earned a road victory behind pins from Lesley Neisius at 106, Joseph Hoffman at 138, Jeremiah Huff at 145, Remington Lockwood at 160, Devin Jackson at 170 and Ortez Lockett at 285. The Purple Knights got a pin from Robert Johnson Other result


Viroqua Invitational

River Valley senior Caroline Iausly won the vaulting competition (8.725 points) and tied for first in floor exercise (9.125) to help the Blackhawks finish fifth in the eight-team meet with 113.9 points. West Salem won with 133.975 points.

Iausly finished third in all-around (34.05 points).

Janesville Parker triple dual

Host Janesville Parker earned a 108-62 victory over Madison East and a 100-70 win over Janesville Craig in a Big Eight Conference triple dual.
