The Jefferson/Cambridge boys swimming team opened its season Thursday night with a sixth-place finish in the seven-team Southern Lakes Conference Relays at Elkhorn.

Jefferson/Cambridge’s 400-meter breaststroke relay of senior Jaden Gallardo, sophomore Stone Farruggio, junior Sam Hrobsky and sophomore Dane Jensen took fourth in 6 minutes, 18.05 seconds to lead the way for the Eagles.

Elkhorn won the meet with 238 points and won seven of the 10 events, each of which was a relay of some sort. Lake Geneva Badger finished second

Boys hockey

Middleton 3, Madison Memorial 2 (OT)

Anton Tung scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Cardinals (3-3-0 overall, 1-1-0 Big Eight) over the Spartans (1-2-1, 1-1-0).

Madison Memorial’s Parker Lindauer tied the game at two with just under six minutes left in the second. Ayden Henderson scored eight minutes into the second to give Middleton a 2-1 lead.

Verona 6, Beloit Memorial co-op 0

Cale Rufenacht scored a goal and added three assists to lead the visiting Wildcats (2-1-1 overall, 1-0-0 Big Eight Conference) over the Purple Knights (2-2-0, 1-2-0).

Mason McCormick scored twice for Verona. Brockton Baker scored once and had two assists.

Sun Prairie 6, Janesville co-op 0

Benett Halbleib scored a hat trick to lead the visiting Cardinals (3-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 Big Eight) over the Bluebirds (0-2-0, 0-2-0).

Eric Blumer scored twice and Travis Kernen added a goal and two assists.

Oregon 7, Beaver Dam co-op 4

Tyler Damon scored four goals in the third period to lead the Panthers (4-1-0) to a comeback victory over the visiting Golden Beavers (1-2-0).

Beaver Dam had a two-goal lead at the end of the second period., but Oregon scored five unanswered goals in the third.

Tristan Hughes scored two goals and had an assist to help the Panthers.

Girls hockey

Sun Prairie co-op 4, Middleton co-op 2

The Cap City Cougars (1-1-0, 1-0-0 Badger Conference) got second-period goals from Margo Thousand, Amanda Bauer and Zephryn Jager to pull away from the Metro Lynx (2-4, 0-2).

Carson Sheridan scored 7 minutes, 9 seconds into play to help the Cougars open an early lead. The Metro Lynx got goals from Ally Conybear and Claire Wischoff.

Beloit Memorial co-op 9, Mauston co-op 0

Zoie Steig scored two goals and made two assists to help the Fury (4-1-1 overall, 1-0-0 Badger) roll past the Lightning (0-3-0, 0-2-0).

Anika Einbeck and Maggy Henschler each scored a goal and had two assists.


Sun Prairie 42, Janesville Parker 33

Karson Sutton and Jack Haraldson were two of five Cardinals that pinned their opponents to help host Sun Prairie defeat the Vikings in a Big Eight Conference dual.

Stoughton 56, Watertown 17

Luke Geister-Jones, Aodan Marshall, Alexander Wicks and Gavin Model each pinned their opponents to help the host Vikings defeat the Goslings in Badger South Conference action.

Sauk Prairie 66, Mount Horeb 9

Dawson Enge, Zeke Smith, Jesse Huerth and Carson Saladis each pinned their opponents in under two minutes as the Eagles defeated the visiting Vikings in a Badger North match. Ky Kalschuer and Max Olinger had the two victories for Mount Horeb.

Lancaster 54, Belleville/Monticello/New Glarus 18

Owen Wolf scored a pin victory in the 160-pound match to help the host Flying Arrows defeat the Wildcats. Max Gerner, Trevor Enloe and Jack Diederich delivered victories via decision for the visitors.

Edgerton 63, Cambridge 9

Reed Farrington and Garrett Ison each pinned their opponent in 55 seconds to help the host Crimson Tide defeat the Blue Jays. Trevor Wilkinson and Ryen Hazzard also scored a pin victory for Edgerton.
