Waunakee set to honor Mason Steffen
Waunakee senior guard Mason Steffen was scheduled to be recognized tonight (Saturday, Jan. 27) for surpassing 1,000 career points in boys basketball. Waunakee is scheduled to play Sauk Prairie in boys basketball at 7:15 p.m. today.
Steffen’s teammate, senior Mitch Listau, already reached that milestone in the boys program as did former Waunakee players Dave Roberts and Jerry Hackbart.
Steffen is a Minnesota-Duluth commit for men’s basketball, while Listau is a Belmont commit.
At a ceremony last season, Listau joined Jerry Hackbart (who accomplished the fet in 1962) and Dave Roberts as the male players and Samantha Murray as the only female player to top 1,000 points for Waunakee.
