Middleton senior Chiara Pierobon Mays announced via Twitter this week that she orally committed to Queens University of Charlotte, N.C., for women’s swimming.

Collegeswimming.com and WISCA.NET (Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) also reported the announcement.

Queens University is a swimming power in NCAA Division II that won the national title.

She announced: “I am blessed to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C., for the next four years. From the beautiful campus, to the McColl School of Business, and to this NCAA D2 champion team, I cannot wait to begin my academic studies in a place I know I will succeed. So excited to be a Royal!”

She and her Middleton teammates are scheduled to compete in this week’s WIAA Division 1 state swimming and diving championship Saturday at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium. Middleton is the defending state champion in Division 1.
