The Madison Edgewood boys tennis team netted the No. 1 ranking in Division 2 in the Wisconsin High School Tennis Coaches Association weekly state rankings, released Sunday night.

Edgewood vaulted from sixth to first after defeating last week’s No. 1 team, Brookfield Academy, and No. 2 team, Kohler.

Edgewood now stands at No. 1, Brookfield Academy No. 2 and Kohler No. 3.

In Division 1, Milwaukee Marquette remained No. 1.

Middleton stayed sixth-ranked and Verona eighth-ranked. Sun Prairie climbed into the top 10 at No. 10. Madison West and Madison Memorial received honorable-mention recognition. Those five Big Eight schools will compete at the Big Eight Conference tournament Wednesday and Thursday.
