Seventeen teams are set to compete at the Cardinal Invitational girls volleyball tournament on Saturday at Middleton High School.

The first matches of pool play will begin at 8 a.m.

The 17 teams will be placed into three pools of four teams and one pool of five teams.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to the Gold Bracket. Quarterfinals in that championship bracket are expected to begin about 2:15 p.m., with semifinals at 3:15 p.m. and the final match at 4:15 p.m.

Consolation bracket matches also will be held in the afternoon.

The host school Middleton, coached by Franco Marcos, is scheduled to be in Pool A with Waunakee, Oregon, Sauk Prairie and Wisconsin Dells.

Platteville, Germantown, Wisconsin Heights and Jefferson will be in Pool B.

Stoughton, Mount Horeb, West Allis Hale and Madison West will be in Pool C.

Madison Edgewood, Holmen, Madison Memorial and Evansville will be in Pool D.

Matches will be played in the main gym and the Field House.
