ASHWAUBENON — Benton’s first trip to the WIAA state girls volleyball tournament produced some thrills on Friday, but ended with a loss.

Oshkosh Lourdes took a 25-23, 25-20, 25-15 victory over the Six Rivers West co-champion Zephyrs in a Division 4 semifinal at the Resch Center.

The No. 9 Knights (36-9) beat No. 7 Benton (25-3), which got 18 kills from senior Emma Lawrence.

Clayton 3, Wausau Newman 2

The top-ranked Bears (31-2) scored seven of the fifth set’s final eight points to oust the four-time defending state champion Cardinals (29-12), 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-8.

Eau Claire Regis 3, Stratford 2

After dropping the first two sets, the Ramblers (26-6) rallied to a 23-25, 15-25, 25-14, 25-20, 19-17 win over the Tigers (44-2) in a Division 3 semifinal.

Luxemburg-Casco 3, Merrill 1

Making the first state appearance in program history, the Spartans (41-8) recovered to earn a 17-25, 25-10, 25-23, 25-20 win over the Bluejays (32-8) in a Division 2 semifinal.

River Falls 3, Oconomowoc 1

The unbeaten Wildcats (42-0) advanced to the Division 1 final with a 26-24, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19 win over the Raccoons (31-10).

Burlington 3, Milwaukee DSHA 1

Senior Abby Koenen had 19 kills and 11 digs as the Demons (34-10) defeated the Dashers (37-15), 25-23, 16-25, 25-16, 25-16.
