Manhole installation work is wrapping up on West Washington Avenue, with work at Bassett Street the third and final intersection getting new manholes for an underground utility project.

The Madison Traffic Engineering Division said work started Thursday, requiring the center traffic lanes on West Washington Avenue to be closed at the Bassett Street intersection, with parking restricted in the work zone.

Earlier manhole installations took place at the intersections with Broom Street and Bedford Street.

The underground work to connect the manholes will be done at a later time.

The work at the intersection is expected to continue to Nov. 3.

Left turns will be restricted from West Washington Avenue to Bassett Street, while sidewalks will remain open on West Washington Avenue, and one crosswalk across the avenue will remain open at all times.
