HILLSBORO—Vercelia M. McNamer, 96, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wis. She was born on Feb. 3, 1922, to Albert and Mary (Kosa) Pliner in the Town of Henrietta, Richland County, Wis. She attended Melancthon Creek School, grades 1-8 and graduated from the Richland Center High School in 1940.

Vercelia was united in marriage to Herman McNamer on June 1, 1948, in Hillsboro. He was truly her one and only; they enjoyed dancing, playing cards and country life. They lived in Lodi, Wis., for 22 years where her husband taught school. In 1977 they returned to the Hillsboro area and lived in the farmhouse where she was born. Vercelia loved gardening, canning, working on crossword puzzles and watching Lawrence Welk on TV. Herman preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1997.

Survivors include her sons, Frank (Melinda) McNamer and Wayne (Sandi) McNamer; granddaughter, Kelly McNamer (Timon Musallam); grandson, Shaun McNamer; step grandchildren, Kayla (Kate), Tanya (Sean), Erik and Brett; a great-grandson, Torben; and step great-grandchildren, Spencer, Saraya and Jackson. In addition to her husband, Herman, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Allen McNamer, who died on May 7, 1963.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the PICHA FUNERAL HOME in Hillsboro. Burial will be in the Czech’s National Cemetery near Yuba.
