A 23-year-old Platteville man was killed Wednesday when his car left a Lafayette County highway and hit trees.

Brandon Zart was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash along Highway G near Mitchell Hollow Road in the town of Belmont, the Sheriff's Office said.

The crash was reported at about 12:30 p.m. Zart was ejected from his vehicle in the crash.

The investigation showed Zart was westbound on Highway G when his Chevy Blazer left the road, went down an embankment, struck a tree and some large rocks, rolled over and hit more trees.

The fatality is the second crash fatality in the county in 2018.
