It's time we start demanding more from our elected officials.
The inaction of Congress, the political divide and the polarization of the voters are all topics that need our attention, action and resolution. But we need common ground before we can begin to address any of these topics.
An obvious starting point would be the unified voice of the voters rejecting any politician who fails to meet the longstanding moral minimum that we all supported until recently. Somehow we have moved from shunning politicians such as John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer to electing a president who has a long list of sexual assault accusers and is most recently being sued by a porn star over a hush agreement.
We have to be better than this. We have to stop ignoring what is staring us in the face. What's next, the return of Rod Blagojevich?
