Sophomore Karina Bursac scored a career-high 18 points Thursday night as the Middleton girls basketball team held on for a 45-42 victory over visiting Verona in Big Eight Conference action.

Middleton (11-7 overall, 9-5 Big Eight) held a 10-point lead until Verona (8-10, 8-6) rallied late. Wildcats senior Chandler Bainbridge finished with 19 points.

Kaytlin Eder scored 21 points, making 15 of 16 free throws, and Sydni Olson added 14 points as the host Lancers (11-7, 7-7) rallied from a 23-point deficit in the first half to defeat the Regents (4-12, 2-11).

Eder went 12-for-13 from the free-throw line in the second half.

West’s Kate Carlson scored 23 points, making 12 of 17 free throws, and Gabby Drucker added 12 points.
